1945: THE BIRTH OF THE DATEJUST
The Rolex Datejust was first released in 1945 to commemorate the company's 40th anniversary. The Datejust was the first self-winding waterproof wristwatch to display the date on its dial, and it changed the world of horology. This unique timepiece was housed in a beautiful 18-carat gold Oyster casing and included the groundbreaking Calibre 710 movement. The first introduction of the Datejust was designated by the reference 4467, which is highly sought after by collectors today.

1954: THE INTRODUCTION OF THE CYCLOPS LENS
In 1954, Rolex once again set the standard for luxury watches with the addition of the Cyclops lens. This small, convex magnifying lens was placed above the date window, enhancing the readability of the date by 2.5 times. The Cyclops lens has since become an unmistakable hallmark of the Datejust, and indeed, of Rolex itself.Aside from its practical functions, the Rolex Yacht-Master is nothing short of stunning. Made and engineered by the Swiss to work perfectly, one will not be unsatisfied to own the attractive and commanding Rolex Yacht-Master. The full-size men’s Yacht-Master is measured at 40in, however, the time-lapse bezel is quite fat and gives the Yacht-Master a larger, heavier look. This aesthetic feature is also true of the 29mm Lady Yacht-Master and 35mm mid size; you definitely get a lot of banging for your buck with the Yacht-Master if you are looking for an “oversized” sport style watch.
Since 1992, there have been no major changes in design or mechanics for the Yacht-Master. The same 3135 automatic movement (or 2235 automatic movement in the Lady Yacht-Master) is used and the original aesthetics have stayed intact. The use of tritium on the dial markers have now been excluded and the eventual upgrade of inner bezel engraving in the late 2000s is the only significant change.

1957: THE EMERGENCE OF THE LADY-DATEJUST
Recognizing the growing demand for elegant timepieces among women, Rolex introduced the Lady-Datejust in 1957. This exquisite model maintained the same level of innovation and craftsmanship as its male counterpart but was designed with a smaller, more feminine case size. The Lady-Datejust has since become a beloved favorite among women who appreciate both style and precision.

1977: THE YEAR OF THE QUICKSET DATE FUNCTION
In 1977, Rolex further refined the Datejust by introducing the Quickset date function. This feature allowed the wearer to rapidly adjust the date without affecting the time, ensuring even greater convenience and ease of use. The Quickset feature was initially introduced on the Rolex Calibre 3035 movement, and later incorporated into the updated Calibre 3135 movement.

2009: A MODERN TWIST ON A TIMELESS CLASSIC
In 2009, Rolex introduced a fresh update to the iconic Datejust line with the Rolex Datejust II. This newer model maintained the core essence of the original Datejust while adapting to contemporary trends and preferences. One of the most noticeable differences between the classic Datejust and the Datejust II is the size. The Datejust II features a larger 41mm case compared to the traditional 36mm case found on its predecessor. This larger size catered to the growing demand for bigger, bolder watches, without compromising the refined elegance that had become synonymous with the Datejust. Despite its relatively short production run, the Datejust II left a lasting impression on the Rolex lineup. In 2016, Rolex unveiled the Datejust 41, a model that combined the best elements of the Datejust II and the classic Datejust. The Datejust 41 featured a slimmer case and a new movement, the Caliber 3235, which boasted improved power reserve and precision.
