Here are some important tips for taking care of your luxury watch and increasing enjoyability:

  • We recommend to read your swiss timepiece manual. On a Rolex and most Swiss movements, we recommend that you wind your luxury watch once a month by gently unscrewing the Rolex  crown. You'll find that most Rolex crowns will slightly spring out from the watch case. A Rolex and other fine Swiss movements are designed to be worn everyday to propel the watch's ability to self-wind (perpetual) but if this is not the case and your luxury watch has stopped keeping time because of sporadic wear, wind your Swiss watch as just described as often as needed. Watch Chest recommends approximately 20 rotations of the Rolex crown when winding is needed.
  • Make sure the Rolex crown is always screwed/pushed in against the Rolex case tightly.
  • Do not wear any other jewelry on your wrist with your luxury watch to prevent scratching and damage.
  • To remove minor fingerprints... use a soft polishing cloth. To have your luxury watch professionally polished, please visit Watch Chest's Service Center page for more information.
  • When you are not wearing your Rolex watch, place a polishing cloth on a flat surface and lay the luxury watch on its side. Place your Swiss watch in a cool, dry, and safe place.
  • If needed, use a soft sponge with mild soap and water for cleaning the Oyster or jubilee bracelet. Before cleaning, make sure your Rolex crown is screwed and pushed in properly and tightly against the Rolex case. To dry, use a soft towel and then let air dry.
  • Always have your serial number, model number (Rolex reference number), and appraised value reported to your home owner's insurance company.
  • We suggest that Swiss watches be cleaned, oiled, and serviced every three to five years to ensure that the components are properly lubricated and that the mechanism is free from dust, dirt, and moisture. Routine maintenance and care is the key to a Rolex watch's longevity. To view Watch Chest's service options, please click here.
